||Get Fit Maryland Employer Program
Company after company has shown that wellness in the workplace greatly benefits both employees and employers:
Studies have shown employees who exercise as little as once a week incur healthcare costs that are one-third to one-half lower than those who do not. In fact,
Westinghouse found that individual workers who participated in a worksite fitness program cost the company approximately $1,715 less than workers who did not participate.
Get Fit Maryland helps employers develop a healthy workforce and save health insurance dollars. Employer benefits include:
One on-site registration sessions for participating employers with assistance from Merrit Athletic Clubs.
One on-site educational health seminar by a University of Maryland School of Medicine faculty member.
Diabetes screening for employees who are deemed high risk
in risk assessment test taken during registration.
Additional Employer Components:
Employers are responsible for designating a wellness coordinator during the 12-week program period.

Coordinators will be compensated with a free six-month, one pass membership to any Maryland Merritt Athletic Club ($500 value).
Coordinators will be given “strategies for success,” including posters and brochures for internal distribution.
Coordinators will sign up interested participants and administer a Get Fit Maryland Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (Par Q) to be completed prior to on-site registration.
Merritt representatives will review participants’ Par Qs at registration along with administering tests for BP, body fat analysis and BMI assessment.
Participants determined to be “at risk” will be scheduled for diabetes screening at initiation of program and again at the 8th week.
